Average Fuel Mileage(unloaded)

Wintertime I get about 15-16 mpg with my '92 250 7.3 5speed and 4:10s

Summertime its about 18.5-20 mpg

and I would say that I run her rather hard, but the mileage doesnt change if you take it easy on her.

Do you have a turbodiesel?

I dont get over 10 driving around town with my NA 7.3 5 speed 4.10s 4x4.
I am disappointed seeing everyone else heres get 15mpg. I got about 12 driving 75 on interstate for 90 miles.

I have to put my foot in the floor when I drive around town since I dont have a turbo. I use dieselkleen cetane booster. mostly just for lube becuase I dont notice a diff in mileage or power w/ it.

Diesel went up to 2.20 per gallon here from about 2.09. Should be half that price. ITs all a bunch of bull****.

driving to work 1 way in colder temps, heavy crew cab dually, e4od, 4.10 rears, and the best i have gotten is 13.9 now that i did the intake mod and the timing advace. I havent tested in the summer yet. I do know that with Citgo diesel i had 13.9 at 60mph on the interstate, and 11.3 with KwickFill (local) diesel. Like many others my truck likes some diesels and doesnt like others. I have used different fuel treatments and have liked some, and didnt like others. I have not noticed any benefit by using Lucas fuel conditioner. But I have used dieselklean, and it has worked good.

I purchased a 94 F250 4x4 super cab long bed with a IDI TD, E40D, 4.10 gears 235/85/16 tires at 80psi last october and drove it back to VA from FL. The truck had 122k miles at the start of the trip and a bit over 123k at the end. I drove it back from FL and tested the mileage. Here is what I got...the truck was basically empty...one motorcycle in the bed and pulling a jet ski on a trailer.

Cruise Control set at 70mph (about 2250rpm) --> 13mpg

Cruise Control set at 60mph (about 2000rpm) --> 16.5mpg

Cruise Control set at 55mph (about 1800rpm) --> 21.3mpg

All of the above figures are indicated (as opposed to GPS confirmed etc) and were obtained in very similar moderately hilly conditions on the same day and were tested for more than 100 miles. I havent driven the truck enough since purchasing it to get any more recent fuel mileage data

7.3 Turbo Diesel

I have a 7.3 turbo diesel that I shift around 2K and return with 10MPG and this is with a 5 speed and 4wd (always engaged in 2wd) and 4.10:1 gearing and high elevation but that shouldn't matter since I have a turbo right? I think this number is a little low. So I am going to ask when everyone shifts that has the same gearing that I do and with a turbo

I have an E350 van 7.3 with 3.55 and auto. It always has a lot of tools etc. in it. I don't do much in town driving, but not towing, using overdrive I get 16-18. Towing drops off a good bit, as my trailer is heavy.

11-13mpg uphill, downhill towing or not. Biggest difference seems to be in brand of fuel. I do better with Exxon than with others I have tried.

Diesel is now about $2.50/gal here and on the way UPPP!

I have a 90 f350 dually, auto CC, 7.3. I'm not sure which rear end I have. I read a hair above 2000rpm at 65mph. Does this mean I have 3:55's?
Thanks!

GreatWhite, I would guess you have 4.10 gears.
3.55's would put you close to 75 MPH at 2000 RPM in overdrive.
