Maf

I am trying to locate the MAF on my 1990 Ranger 4x4 2.9L V-6 motor. I am not sure what it looks like and if it can be cleaned. Also is there a MAP on my truck?

You can't find it because your truck doesn't have a MAF. Trucks still used speed density fuel injection well into the mid 90s in some applications. Yes, you will have a MAP sensor and it is probably mounted on the firewall, usually near the middle of the engine compartment. There will be a hose leading from it back to the intake manifold so it can measure manifold pressure.

Some 90s 2.9 made in California had MAFs and no MAPs.

Me again.....I took out my MAF sensor and it appears to a sealed unit. This is in my 1990 Ranger 4x4 2.9L V-6. Is it possible to take it apart and clean it? If so, how is this done? Any help appreciated!! Thanks!
