Other than wearing the tires out, there is a possibility of wheelhop which can break rearends, u-joints, engine mounts, etc.
Sounds like a timing issue or accelerator pump problem on the other problem.
could be a to much of a carb... I had a 750 cfm (manual secondaries) on a stock 305 once .... it would fall on it's face if you stepped on it to hard...
the other damage that can result is the bushings in the center section can get damaged from the high turning in it if it spins only one wheel. If you do it all the time, it will in time wear out those bushings on the spider gears.
lesse, the most common failures ive seen are driveshaft failures. not during the burnouts, but when you least expect or want it to. (like in a rain storm, out in the middle of nowhere, you are lost, late, and hungry.....) Ive also gernaded rearends as well. The driveline stress/shock pounds away at the insides causing the housing to flex, generating more and more clearance(bad thing) I tried putting new gears into a rearend that I blew up because of excessive abuse, and the new bearing race that is supposed to be an interference fit (aka beat it in) fell out!!! that housing was junk!!
If you are smart, if and when yiou blow up a rearend, swap in a dana 70, or sterling 10.25. DO NO PAY more than $100-200 for for either. People think these things are made of gold, and super rare (which they arent) There are junkyards and private parties who sell these axles at reasonable prices.
Oh, and while you are thinking about it, go ahead and change out your u-joints. they are probably due. :P grease everything else while you are at it
maintenance maintenance maintenance!!!!
