ok here goes my question air filter replacement . for yrs K&N has been the brand that has been touted at least the main one that i have heard of i know from exp that the direct replacement made a dif in a 98 jeep wrangler i had(seat of the pants and about 1/2 to 1 mpg increase in fuel ecomeny) now my question is what kind of dif if any have u noticed with your replacement filters and airintakes other than looks . just trying to decide if its worth it to spend 40 bucks (K&N replacement) do i need to step up to the airraid jr or just the airraid mit that replaces the stock air hose or 300 bucks for a full air intake replacement i'm lookin for more than just looks i want something that is going to help this beast out. by the way its a 04 f150 lariat screw with the 5.4 pls everyone give me any info u can to make the best choice as money is a big object, since i gotta talk she who controls the checkbook into it.
You must get the tunner frist tell your wife you will gain 1 to 2 miles per gallon.
also tell her over so many miles it will pay for its self LOL
Intake does make a small diff alone but with Exhaust and tunner WOW biggest bang for your buck is a tunner i got a Diablo Predator from this Fourm and it is the best price out there and i got free next day air
just curious as to the hp dif just looked on K&N 's website and they show a dyno gain on the fipk kit of 15.5 hp now that is at about 3800 rpm where my truck spends almost no time mowt of the time it's running right at 2k at 75 mph but from that i could see that would still be about a 5-8 hp gain over stock what kind of performance gain do u think that u got with the tuner ?oh by the way the exhaust is coming soon 50 series flowmaster with dual outlets and 3 in tips can't wait
airaid jr kit is a good buy.. esp if you dont want to replace tho whole filtering system. they say 13 hp added- i definatly notice the difference when its floored..
im sure the FIPK's are awesome too but my engine bay is always muddy and i dont want to have to clean the exposed filter all the time.
i wouldnt bother replacing just the stock filter unless u were going to change eveything else with it- not enough air is going through to make too much of a difference (just my opinion). hope that helps you
