Thumbs up Thanks for everything

Well guys I believe tomorrow my internet connection wil be removed. I'm just sick of paying the high price for this High Speed internet, and there's no way I'm going back to dial-up. My visits here will be limited to when I'm at friends or families houses. Just wanted to give all you people here a big THANKS, for all the help, entertainment, and information. This was surely one of my favorite sites. I'll check in from time to time, to make sure you're all getting along. To quote dumb and dumber, "I hate goodbyes"..lol
Take it however you can get it.
Steve

Go back to dial-up, I have to get used to it when I come down from NY (have DSL there), and it is a pain. You might want to check the library for internet use.. Good luck, George

I agree...dial-up is slow but it beats nothing. May I ask how high your high speed connection is?

I have dial-up with a web accelerator and it works great. The only thing you need to learn to do with a web accelerator is to turn it off before doing your virus scan updates and some others. They won't load through the accelerator for some reason. Otherwise, my accelerator opens pages super fast as compared to even our dsl at work. Downloads aren't any faster, though. There's no way I can afford cable or dsl. So dial-up it stays.

I had dial up since 1998 and I am slowly getting high speed internet after I build my pc. I have to amit that it is too slow but I guess having a computer that is less than 400 megahertz does not help either but it is better than nothing.

Here in Orange County, So Calif, we are on cable for internet access. Cost is about $45 a month. High? Maybe, but we have set up a server and clients, (network,) so there are 5 hard wired, and 4 wireless connections in total. Cost is about $5 per each per month...

Download speeds average around 345 - 350 kb sec. Have set up DSL on networks that I installed. D/L's there have averaged around 145 - 150 kb sec. Of course speed is dependant on several factors, and not always as above. When I'm d/loading on the cable setup, when it is down below 140 - 150 kb, I shut it off and wait for traffic to clear... Yep I'm spoiled, and I luv it...

Then you can do what my son and grandson have done. They both got a wi-fi setup on their pc's. Seems like in the condo's where they live, neighbors have set up a wi-fi w/ internet access. Presto, instant internet for free!!!

Here a neighbor also has same deal. His sends out signals that I can pickup. He does not have it set up securely as I can log on to his setup and IF I wanted to, I could lock him out of his own system! Never happen tho, I'm not that nice???
