help installing tachometer on lightning

I have a 1993 Lightning with a 5.8L engine.I am trying to install an aftermarket tach but I dont know where to hook the signal wire.Any info would be very helpful.Thanks in advance.

The signal input comes from the - of the coil. The - of the coil goes up and down in voltage everytime the engine goes to fire, so this is the signal used for rpm.

Make sure the Key is OFF! When I put my tach on, I left the Key ON and I shocked myself when splicing into the Neg. Coil.

I think there is also a White with Pink Stripe wire behind the gauge cluster. You can get signal from there.

On the coil I have a plug in with 2 wires and they are both hot and there is a third wire that goes under the coil into a resistor looking thing that is also hot.Where is the negative at?
