Hi, I'm looking into a cat back exhaust ss system..Has anyone had any experience with silverline exhaust..I like the way it looks and the price with shipping is ok...I know the turbo sound will get louder thats ok..what i don't want is a louder noise in the cab...
I just put a silverline on mine about a month ago. Price was good and a good diesel shop in town did the work. The turbo is a little louder, but I can't really tell unless the windows are down. Overall, I'm pleased.
I have no experience with silverline exhaust but in Dec. I was asking the same ?
I went with with cat back Banks. I know you pay a little more for the name but in the end the product is what I was looking for. I have spent hours on the net looking for the best exhaust. The only real good tip is to say with cat back only. Shorter spool up time, 200 degree drop and 1 hr install time. Banks monster exhaust get my vote. Good luck ps Sounds great
I know the turbo will be louder..that i like..its a cool sound..but i was wondering how much louder it would be inside the cab (exhaust noise)...I used to own a 90 mustang gt and i put flow master mufflers on it..well my brains rattled at 3000 rpm's....after that i put the stock exhaust back on....
Has anyone noticed less turbo drone with the cat back system. I had the new updated turbo pedastal installed and it just mover the drone to a different rpm range and appears more pronounced. I know guys who did tubo back systems noticed improvements. I do not want to do turbo back because of warranty issues. Although FMC knows they have sold us a truck with many issues, they are going to do anything they can to void the warranty.
as far as i know the down pipe on my truck is 3.5" from the turbo to the cat...and i don't think that changes even with a replacement system...
According to my ford dealer....I will not void any warranties as long as i go cat back
Hey Stinger I am in the same boat. I want a cat back as well but I dont want a loud system. I am looking at the MBRP or the silverline. I was just curious how you made out and what decision you made. I also dont want a loud exhaust note in the cab. I can spark up the Grand National for that. Let me know how you made out, I am leaning tword the MBRP cause I can get it from MotorHaven. Thanks, Andy
I'll know this week....I spoke to silverline and a couple of people on the loudness of the exhaust compared to the stock system ..They said it was just a bit louder has a straight thru muffler but has baffles facing the opposite flow reducing that low end
brain rattling noise which i don't want...But they did mention the turbo whistle will be louder....Since i'm only replacing from the cat back it won't be as loud as a full turbo back....Also replacing a full turbo back without the cat breaks all the emission laws..It would be pretty hard to hide that from the dealership on a return service issue...My dealer said to me..as long as you go cat back there will be no warranty issues
