If you have a 6.0 liter diesel it is recommended you change it ever 15,000. That's right from the manual.

There are two fuel filters. One is engine mounted near the oil filter and the other is frame mounted under the truck with the same canister type as the oil filter.

I just ordered them both from oilguard.com for $55 including shipping. I'm trying to figure out how to change them out on another forum. I hear you need coveralls and you need to drain the water/fuel filter thing-a-ma-jig first to make it easier. LOL

And just for anyone who hasn't ordered one: they come as a set of two in the box, there is no need and isn't possible to order them separately.

They're $100 from your dealer, about half that anywhere else, and even cheaper in quantity (I got 3 for $37 each.) Racor filters are the exact same thing as Motorcraft but without the fancy red ink on the box. (Racor makes them for Ford; Racor designed the filter contraption in the first place.)

Even with a commercial discount, the best price I could get is 60 bucks at the dealer, I just paid 47.78 from oil guard including shipping. I do have a question though, since we're talking about filters and oil guard, what is the difference between the oil guard oil filters and the racor oil filters? Are they the same with just different names on them like Motorcraft????? Or, are they filters that oil guard has someone else make that "will fit"??? They are 11 dollars where the racor ones are 21 dollars on oil guards site. Hopefully someone will have some real experience or facts to answer this question. Thanks guys, Mat.

Racor makes them for Motorcraft. Go pull one out the box from Motorcraft and look at the markings. "Made in Germany" Patent, etc. Then go look at a Racor. Same thing. If it doesn't have those markings, I wouldn't put in in my $12,000 + engine. Why would you risk it on saving a couple bucks on a filter?

I don't have the box to check it, I was just wondering if anyone has bought one of the "oilguard" filters and verified it against the Racor. I know that Racor makes the motorcraft filters and puts the motorcraft info on it. BUT, I want to know if the "others" have the same patent number, etc. on them. If they do then they have to be made to the exact same standards, if not, then they are simply a "will fit" or "looks right" filter. Thanks for any hands on knowledge. Mat

I have checked the patent numbers on the stock ford oil filter and compared it to the new oilguard filters I just recieved and the patent numbers are identical. This is the $11.00 version I ordered on-line. Each has a manuafacturre date if you look closely as well. I am assuming since the patent number is the same, they even have the manufacture date in the same place, it must be the same. If it looks like a duck, it probably is a duck. I change my oil filter every 5000 kms. (3000 miles)
One always wonders though why the racor filters are so much more on the oilguard website compared to the oilguard? Perhaps you are paying for the name!!

They are the same, that is why the OilGuard system, company, products, employees are the best.
Now you call can see why we push them, and you can start pushing them yourself….
.....and YES you are paying for the name.....that is marketing at it finest
