The V10 with a blower would get about 3-4 MPG, i cant imagine that the diesel could break that record no matter how many mods you did....... the anser to your question is the diesels get better gas milage then the V10, then you go and add blower and add twice as much fuel and air the the V10...well the gap just gets bigger.... though i think the V10 would be more fun!!!!
is the supercharger on the v10 set up diferently than most others? all the other supercharged engines i know of get better mileage than their NA counterparts.

WHAT!! no motor with a blower is going to better mileage then an NA one, more air into the engine means more fuel (and more power) and less MPG. a blower is running all the time and always forcing more air and fuel into the engine. there are two reasons a diesel gets good mileage 1) diesel fuel has a higher stored energy capacity per unit than gasoline does, meaning a gallon of diesel will porduce more power and do more work than a gallon of gasoline thus being more efficient. 2) a turbo engine only makes large amounts of boost (thus using more fuel) when you put your foot into it, so most of the time you are not putting large amounts of air and fuel into motor on a constant basis, like you are with a blown motor.
LOL...yea i would love to drop a 671 on top a 429 and get 15mpg instead of 8
Did an 871 on top of a 392 hemi w/bugcatcher injection.... Result? 2-5 GPM (gallons per mile). Went aroung the block 3 times and burned 20 gals but those 2nd/3rd gear wheelies were a hoot!
You should of tried Nitrous injection in addition to the 871, but maby you couldn't keep the thing from flippin everytime you hit the gas. Take a video of the tires smokin, post it somewhere on the net, we all want to see!

Reason: addition

Would love to, unfortunately all I have left is a video of me and my best friend working on it. It was his car that he made our 5 year project, but alas he died of cancer a year and a half ago so all the pics are lost to me...... I can say that the big talker almost peed his pants when it came up in second, thank goodness for wheelie bars! I wasn't surprised though, that many ponies with 6:13 gears and a 4:11 hemi 4 speed and a real good McCloud clutch. What was interesting was seeing the top of the injection freeze up on a summer day... Ain't alchohol wonderful?
