Transmission Woes

I have a 95 F-150 5.0 with the AODE trans. a couple of weeks ago, it started to "shudder" when it shifted into OD when under a load. I've been told by two different transmission shops that it is the torque converter, and another shop that it is the OD clutch band slipping. Has anyone had any experience with this problem, and how expensive the fix is? I'm afraid to drive the truck for fear of causing more damage. Also, any suggestions for performance improvements while they have the trans apart? Thanks!

I had the same problem with my 95 F150 5.0 with an AODE trans. Autotrans makes a shudder fix circuit board that you put in the transmission and splice into the wires on a solonoid (if thats how its spelled) My truck started doing the shuddering at about 90K miles. Now it has almost 140K with no tranny problems. I've serviced it plenty of times though. Gotta take care of those automatics

Lubeguard is the wonder drug for automatic transmissions. I've been in the transmission industry for years and Lubeguard is awesome stuff. Try it out. About 10 bucks at your local
No Auto Parts Available store. (NAPA)
