An Idea...homemade CCSB!!
I want to take an 81-86 F250 4wd chassis, one from a Supercab longbox. I want to pull the cab and bed, and replace the super cab with a Crew Cab (4 doors). Then, I want to replace the long bed with a short box. My questions are...
1) will the shortbox bed bolt directly onto the frame at this point. Attatchment points aren't the issue, it's the location of the box itself, meaning will the wheel wells be where they're supposed to be when I'm done?
2) has anyone does this? Essentially, I'm trying to create a Crew Cab Short Box (CCSB) using all factory stuff. But only it it's mostly bolt on. I know the cab I can make work, thats not what I'm worried about, it's the box. I don't have the resourse to "shorten" a box to make it fit the confines of the frame and location of the wheels.
3) is the wheelbase the same for current generation F250's for their supercab long boxes and their crew cab short boxes? If they are, that would suggest to me that my idea would work.
Any and all suggestions, or if anyone has done this before, please let me know....
Phil
