What year did they do a way with closed knuckles on the F250 4x4's? Also what year did they start put disc up front? Do I have to swap out my whole front end on my 74 crew to get disc? I want to know cause I was looking into getting a power steering conversion kit off ebay as my power assist unit leaks like a seave. I just don't want to invest time and money into this kit if when I get the funds to swap over to a disc setup I have to dump it.
Not sure about the years, however I would swap in a Dana 60 High Pinion with disc and eliminate all the weak points. I know these came in 78-79 F350's and some F-250's
they had disk brake on 77 highboys and i think 76 and thats it. you will have to swap your whole axle. i have 2 77 highboys here 1 for parts which has a disk brake open knuckle front. pm if your interested. i swapped a d60 in my 74 highboy and im doing a power steering conversion now.
75 was the last year for closed knuckles 76 was the first year for discs and open knuckles your crew cab should have a low pinion d60 if you do the steering swap it will fit either the open or closed knuckle front end if you go to discs up front you will have to change the master, booster, proportioning valve and front brake lines
Look on Ivanribic's gallery. He did a crossover steering setup that cost like $200 and the parts are cheap. He's got some pics of the linkages etc. Thats what I'll be doing.
