front bearings
Thanks guys!
The outboard bearing is easiest. When you remove the nut from the spindle, the bearing will slide right out or come off when you remove the brake rotor.
The inboard bearing has a grease seal pressed into the back of the rotor that keeps the bearing intact. This can be removed by useing a drift punch from the inside and tapping it evenly all the way around until it comes out.
To reinstall the (new) seal, first insert the inboard bearing in the hub. Lightly coat the outside of the seal with grease. Push it into the hub as far as you can with your fingers. Use a soft hammer or small ball peen to gently tap and evenly seat the seal flush with the hub.
If you are getting your rotors turned while they are off, some shops and auto parts stores that do machine work will also install the inboard bearing and seal if you ask them.
BTW: Bronco specific postings will get more views and replys if you put them in the proper 'Bronco Conference'. Since this was a pretty generic question, we'll let you slide this time! ;-) Wellcome to FTE!
