The owners manual would be able to tell you what the truck can hold, but the hitch holds you to 5,000lbs. You're biggest worries are engine struggling with the load (esp if its an old engine), and brakes. My F-250 has a Class IV on it which rates the hitch to 7500 I believe, but I havn't looked as to whether or not it can tow that, probably can.
