I am replacing the 302 in my 87' with a 351w, and wasn't sure if it is the rear-sump truck oil pan I need, or another one. I am looking at this one on eBay that says : Ford truck small block oil pan. This oil pan will only fit the 351 Windsor V8 engine from the Ford rear Sump truck. This oil pan will not fit passenger 351W rear sump block. Part#HZ-9791

I wasn't completely sure with the engine being different, and I don't wanna buy one that isn't gonna work.

I am not sure what's different between a pass. car rear sump and a truck rear sump but from the description it sounds like the car rear sump would fit either model?

 

It may not be a stocker pan. It may be a after market pan specifically for a truck application. Does it hold the standard amount of oil 5-6 qaurts or is it an 8 qaurt? The deeper pan would be to low for a car. Does it say make of pan?
