Anyone had their dealer lift their super duty? Did they offer this service? Did they do a good job?
I think the closest lift shop to me is in Va. Beach and I never go to that side of the water if I can help it. Except passing by on the way to Hatteras once a year.
If anyone knows of a good lift place in Yorktown or Richmond areas I'm all ears. Will probably do the Donahoe Racing. I'll check Donahoe's site for authorized dealers, too. Just looking for some personal experience here--good or bad.
I live just south of the border in NC. (Just south of Suffolk, Va) I have had the pleasure of dealing with Pro-Trucks in Chesapeake. They do a great job and the owner at this one is willing to make the truck right. I do know that they also have a shop in Fredricksburg as well. I would stay away from Hi Dust they lifted our old Expedition and we had a few issurs that they never got straight. Anyway just my .02 on where to take your 250.
If I am correct...usually the dealers that offer lifts as an option deal specifically with a local 4x4 shop who will do the work and your pretty much stuck with the brand they offer. You may get lucky and find a dealer that uses a shop that is also carrys DR...I don't know. I also believe that you would pay more for the same lift going through the dealer than you would taking it to the shop yourself but I could be wrong.

Thanks.
The closest dealer shop that will lift a truck here is Chris Leith Chevrolet in Wake Forest, I don't know of any Ford dealers that will touch a lift kit due to liability concerns.
There are several non-dealer or mfg. affiliated shops that will lift here though. "We Do Trucks" off South Saunders St. here in Raleigh does lifts/lowers and I think Tires'n'Parts off S. Dawson St. here in Raleigh might as well.

The main reason that Chris Leith Chevrolet will do lifts for their trucks has to be the fact that Chris is a big truck kind of guy. Thus would explain his monster truck that is usually parked out back in the gravel lot and also the fact that he has a couple of other trucks fixed up pretty nicely as well. He is a good old southern boy and a really nice guy if you ever get to meet him.
Truck Accessory Center right over the North Carolina line on 168 is instaling lifts as well as selling them. I have dealt with them and seem very professional.

You havent been to TEXAS lately.... Every FORD dealer in the big texas citys have to have big lifted trucks (brand new) out on the lot to beat the next guy.. its common place down here and the warrenty stands with the lift..... they did not even bat an eye when i drove my 10" lifted truck (done as of new, not at dealer).. into the dealer a couple times for small fixes while it was under warrenty... however i took it into a small town dealer once and they told me the would not touch it due to liabilities........ gotta love Texas...
Thanks for the help, guys. I haven't spoken to my dealer yet. They're a small dealership and from speaking with the owner in the past I assumed they had no concerns over lifts in general. I think I have heard radio commercials for the Pro Trucks place. I'll definitely check and make sure I'm not going through a middle-man, though if I go through the dealer. From posts here on FTE, I assumed a lift is pretty straightforward for those with mechanical ability (I can change oil and fuel filters and drain the HFCM--that's it!) so I figured the dealer guys can handle the lift no problem.
In general, when a shop is doing the lift, they also do the alignment, right. Or do I have to go somewhere else for that?
Most shops send out the alignment work. The specialize in the lift and let another shop do their alignment work. Just make sure that the alignment is included with the lift price. Most shops figure that cost in the price but you should ask to make sure.
Just curious, but is the alignment that difficult? The price of alignments seems so low that I would have figured any tech with miinimal tools could do it. Or is the price low because alignments are one of the shop's specialties?
alignments vary depending the shops. They do require a special rack to use their mirrors and whatnot to get the angles correct. It is not like it used to be with older trucks where you could take measurements on the front and rear of the tires and ball park the toe in about .25 of an inch and be good to go. Just make sure that they send it to a shop that has a good reputation.
