89 f250

hey guys, I got another problem. I was installing the motor mounts on my 89 f250 351 and guess what, one d@m* bolt on each motor mount broke in the block. What do you think I should do, will one bolt on each side be enough or not. This truck is not a daily drive but it will be worked hard when ran.
thanks for the response

I would think you might have future problems by using only one bolt, but I do not know how difficult it will be to try to extract the broken ones?? Maybe someone will post up that's had this problem for both our edification. You might try modifying your post description from '89 F250 to something indicating the type problem. Might get looked at more??

Moved to appropriate forum...

You're talking about the two bolts that hold the motor mount to the engine right?

You'll have to fix it, you can't let that stay. You can use a bolt extractor, drill it and re-tap it, there are options....but if you're asking then it sounds like you may not be experienced enough to fix this, and you may want to think about having someone help you. You don't want to damage the block.

What I would do is buy a bolt extractor, drill the center of the bolt out (drill size is specified by what extractor you use, their instructions would tell you what to use for the size bolt you're working with). Then put the extractor in and use it. I would also use a small torch to heat the block where the threads are to get a little expansion and ease the tension on the threads. It should come out fairly easily if done properly. Then re-tap the threads and as long as the threads are clean you're good to go. In this procedure it is imperitive that you drill in the center of the bolt, and straight from all angles.
