The rivets on one of my rear spring mounts (86 f150 4X4) have weakend and the mount has begun to pull away from the frame rail. I plan on grinding down the old rivets and replacing them with grade 8 bolts. Has anyone else ever experienced this or a similar problem and do these trucks have a history of this type of problem?

Never had this problem, but it doesn't really surprise me given the nature. I've heard of rivets working loose on the front end, so there isn't much reason (as I see it) why the rear would be that much different. Your fix sounds good, though.....

Never had one pull away from the frame but have had several mounts themselves rust out (love ohio hehe) and have simply burned off the rivets and stuck new mounts (well new to me, scavenged from other frames) on with grade 8 fasteners and have never had a problem.
