Sorry if this question has been posted elsewhere, but I didn't see anything that matched what I was looking for.
My 96 Ford Explorer Sport has a console 6-CD changer. The changer will no longer eject, and if I push the CD button on my radio, I get a message indicating "No CD" is present, even though I have 6 loaded into the changer. As I mentioned above, the cartridge will not eject either. I've been searching the web for a manual or instructions for safely removing the cartridge from the console, but have had no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a manual or good instructions?
Hey Lance,
I had this exact same problem in my '97 xlt. I fixed it but I also have a history of disassembling everything in the house. I pulled the unit out of the console and took it apart as much as I had to in order to get the magazine out. One of my CDs had jamed in the ejector mechanism and I was able to free it - at the expense of the CD. While I had it apart, I lightly greased the moving metal parts and put it back together. I haven't had trouble since (10 months).
Thanks for the response. I did manage yesterday to get the changer out. I didn't think to grease any moving parts, but did get it put back together. I only had three mystery screws left when I finished!
sometimes when discs get stuck or even magazines get stuck one can disconnect the battery cables so everything resets. and then when you turn things back on sometime's magic happens and discs or magazines will eject. without taking the whole truck apart.
