Talking Beefing up rear helpers on F-350

<!--StartFragment --> I'd like to add two or three leaves to my rear helper springs. Truck squats way too much before the current helper spring even touches. I figure adding some leaves will bring it up closer to the frame and accomplish the goal.

Anybody ever do this?

I was looking at the Edge mini's that are usually used in the front to space the spring up a bit.

Your thoughts are appreciated...

I had thought about lowering the overload spring contact brackets which bolt to the frame for a sooner engagement. Anyone else done this? Philip.

We added a few in the back of one of our 2000 f-250s... It probably has more capacity than a stock f350... rides a little more rough, but it's a work truck. We had it done at Ballard Spring up here... can't recall the price

my boss took of one of his trucks to a spring and driveshaft shop. they raised the helper spring up with a block so it would contact the pads sooner. Not sure how much it cost.

I would suggest looking at Timbren - they are rubber doughnuts that replace the rear axle bumpers. I have them on my F350 DRW and only the rear of helper springs touch the mount even when I am maxed on the rear.

Why not put air bags on it?

Thanks for the replies...

Not a big fan of Timbrens or air bags. I just want to get the overloads closer to the frame and stiffen that pack a bit. For my purpose that will be ideal.

Local spring shop (not really local, but close enough) told me on the phone to bring the truck in & they can match up two or three leaves to add under the current overloads for about $150 installed. (Includes longer U bolts.)

Spring arch will increase just a tad, which is pretty much what I was looking for.

Single leaf overloads appear to be pretty much a cosmetic upgrade from the factory. Adding a little heft to the overloads will make them far more functional.

Again, thanks for the info.
