flowmaster 40, 50, 70, or delta flow
I didnt get much of a response in the other forum so here goes,
Hi Guys and Gals, any input from you will be greatly appreciated.
I have a 2000 ford excursion 4.30,v10 of course.
I tow a lot ,every other day, sometimes as much as 10,000lbs
I want a flowmaster or compairable , not really for performance (stock setup is perfect I havnt had any problems towing ,125,xxx), but just for the sound if it. If it adds performace then that a plus.
Does any body have any experiance with either the flowmaster 40, 50, 70, or delta flow in either verson.
I DONT want to loss torque or hp, maybe gain a little.
looking for something with a good sound that aint too loud inside (annoying)towing 10,000lbs long distances.
I have heard that some mufflers will make you lose torque, I definitely want to stay away from those.
I am changing the muffler only, everything else is stock.
Any help, pleeeeeese.
ps, i did a search already but nobody quite cover the questions i have.

Running stock exhaust with just a Flowmaster you will have a hard time even telling it has a good muffler, might as well just run a strait pipe. The cat takes all the sound away. If you must have a muffler use the 40 series, but I would just dump the muffler and run a strait pipe, the V-10 exhaust really doesn't get a good mean sound, just more like a indy car. A good free flowing muffler will not take away any power, you might get a hp or two at most, so you will never feel a differnce, it will get a little more heat out of the manifolds and heads, that can only be good.

I have a Super 40 with 2 pipes leaving the muffler. I welded up the new dual Super 40 in the same location and used the stock pipe for one and added another out the other side to mirror the stock pipe. Cheap to do. Muffler off ebay for 80 and 80 to do the welding and mounting. I absolutely love it. It is close to the sound of a V8 rumble with no negative noise. It is not as loud as I thought it would be, but it is great at start up and on the road. The only thing I do not like is 1400-1500 RPM cruising it has a bit of a drone, but it is not a common cruising speed (50mph) so it does not happen often or for long periods of time.

I've got the 50 series beacuse the 40 series sound clip I heard was too loud. If you're towing, the 40 will get to your ears unless you're deaf anyway
The 50 has a slight drone inside the cab, but not near like a 40. Outside sound is o.k. but will never be like a V8. Definitely sounds better than stock. I only replaced the muffler and put on a chrome tip.
