I just purchased the Sirius upgrade kit through RadiosandMore saving $100 off the dealer quote. When I talked to the dealer about installing it they quoted me a minimum of 3 hours and they would have to remove all the door panels, mount the tuner in the left rear quarter panel, running the antenna up the molding and out the lift glass. I called Best Buy and they told me they don't mess with OEM radios. If I go to a local shop pending I can find one here in Arkansas, is it covered under warranty? Sorry to keep beating a dead horse. I talked to 3 different dealers and only one even knew you could upgrade the radio. One told me I just had to call a 800 number and it would work! Doesn't leave a lot of confidence in the dealerships!

As you may have read in some of my earlier posts... the dealers really have no clue as to availability of OEM/factory offered items. It's really quite regrettable. Myabe they should actually pay someone to surf the internet... there is a wealth of knowledge just a few mouse clicks away! Having said that, if you're even remotely handy, the install is really simple. It took me approx 3 hrs with the help of my brother. It requires removing the main dash, some of the door trims, etc, but again, really quite simple. Good luck!
Rick
Thanks Rick,
Where did you install the antenna and tuner. Did it come with instructions. I haven't received my kit yet, I just ordered it two days ago after I stumbled upon this forum. After going back and forth with the dealers for over a week, I was a google maniac!
MJ
Everything is where the instructions call for... sort of. My antenna in right in the rear center of the roof, about six inches ahead of the third brake light. Very low profile and as high as these expys sit, you can barely see it. The tuner I have in the drivers side rear quarter compartment above the sub. The manual calls for taking the entire trim piece out which requires removing the power folding third row seats (if memory serves me...), etc. I ran all of the wires to that location as instructed, then just merely set the tuner in the quarter panel trim piece. I wasn't going to take out the third row of seats, I knew that much. It sits down in a little cubby and has worked perfectly since day 1.
What info is displayed after adding Sirius to your factory radio?
Does it just display the channel #, or do you get artist and song info displayed as well? One dealer told me you just get the channel # and if that is the case I'll just get the add-on receiver...
The default display is the channel name and number. If you want the artist and song info, you press the text button left for artist, right for song name, then it goes back to channel. Really kinda cool... you wanna know a song? it's right there.
EDIT... and as I've mentioned through-out this entire thread, PLEASE do not go by anything the personnel at the dealer tell you! Unless they've had a crash course in OEM Sirius wiring harnesses and install, they really have no idea what they're talking about. I found all the information I needed online (part numbers, etc.) and then bought it form the dealership... all the while one of the guys at the dealership telling me it couldn't be done!!! I actually found out after buying mine, I think you can get the same Visteon harness from radiosandmore.com or something like that. Good luck.

Thanks for your advice Rick- you're right- I would have gone to the Ford dealer & they would have had no idea what to do. I just wanted a clean look and using Sirius w/ the factory radio unit is great- no extra gadgets on the dash... I wouldn't have known to try radiosandmore.com Thanks again!
I have an 06 Expedition EB with the SAT ready radio. I also have rear seat entertainment system. I was told that if you had RSE you could not use the SAT radio because they both plugged into the same hole in the back of the radio. Anyone know about this? Surely Ford would have a fix for this considering how many Expedition EB's have RSE these days. Does this mean that you cannot have Sat radio and RSE in the same vehicle? Seems ridiculous.
Yes you CAN have both in the vehicle... but for whatever reason, you cannot use both at the same time! You get some CONFLICT error on the radio screen. When the RSE is in use, you can only listen to CD or FM, not SAT. It's really quite F-ed up if you ask me. My son is only in my car sometimes, so it's not as big of deal to me as some who may use their RSE alot and want to listen to SAT. I listen to nothing but Sirius satellite in my truck and love it!!! good luck, hope this helps.
