Replacement Bed Steel
Does anyone know where one can buy full sheets of replacement bed steel that is corrugated like the original beds have? I know JCW and some others sell 1/2 sheets, but I have not seen full lenght sheets. Anyone know if it exists?

Shipping is the reason you don't find the full sheets.
A suggestion; Look at a later model bed for a donor. I measured the floor in a 86 that I own and was very surprized just how close the measurements were.

Browsing FTE classified yesterday and if recall, couple beds for sale. Did not notice when posted. Can find them on auction w/ ebay on occasion. Difficulty is finding one close to your area.

jowilker, that's a good idea. The good news for me is that I need it for a short bed, and the ends of the beds seems to be where the rust is. I should be able to find something I can cut up.

Yah, ya know, I've got two '71s and one is a parts truck. Hmmm, never looked at the condition of the bed (I know it has some rust, but maybe I can salvage enough for a SWB). Now I'll have to check it out.

Comet, Let us know what you find out.I need some bed floor up front also. I did find a uni in my area must have been garaged most of its life. the guy sold the rust free front clip with rad. core support doors and all..all thats left is the cab and bed but bed is rust free.i can buy it for 100.00..was thinking about going that rout and cutting what i need for my floor . would have just used the whole cab but mine is a big back glass and i want to keep it. I am going saturday to a salvage yard where a guy told me about a 62 uni..gona check it out..Tom

Wow, that sounds like a good deal. Kinda sad to see a rust free uni cut up though. I bet you could get lots more for it if it's in decent shape.

ymurf....if I had a chance, and room, for a solid rust free uni cab/bed it would take more then an act of Congresss to get me to cut it up....reference the recent post about hacking doors and dashes....the unis, although rare in rust/rot free form positively fall into that category....buy it and sell to a fella in need of one....PLEASE dont cut it up.....i can almost guarantee you will see more then one grown man cry.....
