460 manual tranny interchangability
Im planning the restoration of my 77 F-250 4x4. I am going to install Ford's 550 HP 466ci crate motor. I have the 4spd granny tranny now, and would like to swap in a 5spd from say a 94-95 250/350 or even one of the new 6spd manual trannys. Has anyone done this? How much power are those trannys capable of holding? I dont plan on running tires over 35" and the trucks mainly going to be for the street, just with insane power! Definently dont want to convert to an automatic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
