Anyone looked at the LED replacement bulbs? I came across some while browsing performance Products web page. They are not the cheapest bulbs around, $12 to $50 per pair, but I like how bright they are (when i see cars with them on the road). Just wondering what they look like in use, or even if there is a replacement for the entire plastic lens cover that would look better with the LED bulbs. Not found that yet.
Someone in my office has a new 150 and changed out most of the lamps with the LED modules. So far so good.. The blinker lights came with a high wattage resistor to add some resistance to the blinker circuit. Otherwise, the lights flash too quickly. He said it was an easy install and all the stock covers worked..
on ebay tmi leds has a tower led that looks great. they just came out with the 3156 and 3157 and have a plug in load resistor that installs right into the oem blink regulator so no need to install individual resistors. it also have 360 degree coverage so no need to worry about the guy next to you not seeing the light.
check sylvania for the guide. here's a link. i believe you need 3157's for the tail light in red. i believe the front turn signals are 3157's too but in amber.
One thing to stay away from are the APC LED 194 bulbs. I tried them in the clearance lights on top of the cab and they were horribly dim. I swapped them out for some of the chromium bulbs and it's much better now. I also changed out the front turn signals with the chromium bulbs ('05 clear headlights) and it looks very clean now.
I was looking at this place LED 1157 This links to a pdf of the catalog page that contains Sunbrite leds. The specs indicate they should be plenty bright.
