I just bought new front brake hoses to replace the old ones with rusted fittings. I have already replaced every inch of steel brake line on the truck.
My question is how does the new brake line attach to the frame , where it goes through at the connection with the steel line on the other side. I can't figure out how that works on the new line, the fitting at that end is a is hex shaped with a flare joint connector on the end. Then there is this little horseshoe-shaped clip that spins around on a ring slot. The old fitting on the truck is so rusted that i can't make out how it goes together. i expect I'll have to drill or cut it to get it off.
I feel like such a hacker asking this this lame question. If anyone understood a word I said, please help
If the old clip is like the ones on my Ranger, you first have to unscrew the line from the hose. That's because the old clip is folded over in three layers with a "horseshoe" shape in both directions. You have to bend the top layer out to slip the clip out of the groove.
Or, grab the old clip with vise grips and break it off. That's how I got the first one off. Upon examining the pieces, I learned the secret Ford handshake.
