Only hood options I found for the 73-79 or the 67-72's were on www.USbody.com. with their GT hood and clip. Problem is they only sell the clip as one piece and not just a hood and they don't have a cowl one either. I belive they have cowl add-ons that you can add to your stock hood.
If you were handy you could cut your hood, one slice on each side, raise it up a bit and weld in some pie peices. I've seen them done that way.
I've got an ABS cowl ind. scoop from JC Whitney on my Cherokee and it's a POS. I have it riveted down and it's busting/cracking all apart from closing the hood.
I've got a fiberglass remake Mopar S/S scoop on my '65 Coronet, it was riveted on then glassed and smoothed down to look as part of the hood. So far that one has held up just fine, but it hasn't gone through the abuse my Cherokee has.
Summit sells a few Harwood brand cowls that go on top of your original hood.
Here's mine which is very similar to the Harwood scoops. It's glassed in, but still waiting on paint (as always ). Scoop cost me $90 I think, and then the fiberglass and some time is about it.
I made my own out of sheet metal. It's pretty easy. Cut out the top and sides, weld 'em together, sand it all down and mount 'er up. There's a few pix in my gallery under 'justpix'.
Wow guys way to put a Chevy design on your Ford. How about a teardrop hood that would be kinda cool
I agree, I'm tired of cowl induction - leave it for the camaros and chevelles. I want a '69 Mach 1 scoop on my '73 F100. But I have no hood clearance issues (which a cowl is good for), I just want a meaner look. But that's just my opinion.
When we go off-roading, we run through several deep water holes, and I've had too many situations where water makes it into the carb and leaves me dead in several feet of water. Forward facing scoops on the trails also tend to suck water/dirt in some instances.
Since I put the cowl on, I've never had any water/dust/dirt/ problems on the trails. I've also driven this in wicked downpours at 55 mph without a problem.
On a street machine that never sees rain, I could see a nice old stang scoop. They DO look pretty mean.
