What I Should Have Said Is If You Have An Engine Failure And You Take It In With The After Market Air Filter They Will Not Fix Your Engine,or If They Ever See Your Air Filter, that Could Give Them Excuse To Deny Your Claims. That Is If Your Dealer Is Not Mod Frendly.
I wouldn't waste my money on an after-market filter. Time after time I've seen little or no HP/TQ gain on side-by-side dyno tests. Besides Fords got a Donoldson in there right now. Save the jing put in some after-market programming.
DMAX that is the first positive thing I have seen you post. Sorry about the bashing in the other thread. Your comments I actually agree with here.
well put back my stock filter, damm you think they could have made that easier to install,(slightly use k$n for sale lol)truck running much smoother now, just wondering,i guess i should have looked before ripping it out if the air sensor was put in *** backwards, now for a programmer, will read before wasting anymore money,
Usually aftermarket exhaust and intake make no extra power for a turbo charged diesel engine. The benefit from them is keeping egts lower when you add a chip or tuner.
Hmm....
I beg to differ....
I BELIEVE the old saying that an engine is just a LARGE air pump...
the more air in and the more/faster air out (to an extent) the more power...
dosent the turbo need some back pressure? From what I have read here in the last 6 mos or so, its my feeling that the only thing exhaust systems are going to do for you are to make the truck louder.
thinking about putting my stock air filter back on,and trying out a programmer, not sure which way to go edge or scmt,i'll have to do so more reading,
If you have an automatic get the SCMT. Manual trans either one. The SCMT does run cooler, although the people with edge really love the power.
Personally my SCMT has enough power that it already makes me nervous so I do not full throttle it from a dead stop while towing (afraid it is going to break something).
what about The Predator, is it the only tuner with OBD-II diagnostics, they all seem to have there advantages and disadvantages, i don't tow anything, just carry a 5 man crew with 80 gal slip tank, wouldn't mine getting a few extra mpg
The predator in my truck DEMANDED that I get one of these:

The SCMT will read codes if that is what you are asking. I went from 14-18 on the highway with the SCMT in HP tune. City is the same or worse but, that is because it is sooooooooo much fun at a stop light.

For the most part the turbo provides back pressure for the motor. What the exhaust systems do and why so many people straight pipe their trucks, is to keep the egt's down. I fall under both catagories, i like to keep my egts down and i like to hear the turbo sing through a straight pipe.

Gotta love the whistle, and I lost about 200 degrees with the new pipe.
