Here is my delima I have always had a small problem with the tranny pickup in my truck. I just chalked it up to old age but I can't stand it anymore. In Drive I can press the gas and the engine will rev and then about 5 seconds later the transmission will kick in. When I want to go in reverse it hardly even moves I mash the gas and then 5 seconds later it lurches but it is a terible reverse I almost couldn't backup on a small incline today. when Im drving along and I want to accelerate I mash the gas and the engine revs high but nothing, then about 5 seconds later the tranny will kick in . Its almost like its sliping everytime before it engages.
Whats going on is there some kind of linkage adjustment I can make I mean the truck is driveable but I want to get all of these bugs worked out before I start really working on it and putting it on the highway.

Thats how mine acts when the fluid gets around 1 to 1 1/2 quart low.
But if the fluid is fine, then it may be time for a new transmission.
