Header install aftermath - alittle long
today is the last day truck performance will sell the JBAs for $330something
anyhow...take the header back off and grab some 400 grit sandpaper....smooth out as much of that pink crap as possible....
I would use a thread tap to clean the holes on the heads out and consider using studs....be sure to use antisieze on each stud or bolt and torque to spec.
the cheaper headers aren't worth the trouble in my opinion....but you may have to have the header taken in for surfacing to create a flat mating surface...
THEN....order some copper header gaskets warm them in the oven (350-400F for about 15 minutes at temp....
let them air cool...wipe mating surfaces with alcohol and install....the softened copper will conform to most minor surface irregularities and seal that puppy for awhile....
because of the thin flanges on the cheaper headers you will experience exhaust leaks...
I am speaking from past experience.
