On my friends 2001 F150, the turn signals have completely stopped working. A couple of days ago they were intermittant. They have now quit. When they were intermittant, you could fool with the switch and they would start working again. This leads me to believe that the switch is bad. This switch was replaced about a year ago for a similar if not the same problem. Is there something else that could be causing this or is it the switch? If so, is there something that causes the switch to go out? It shouldn't have gone out again this soon. I was unable to find a flasher as my 95 has. Do these newer trucks not have a flasher? It is not specified in the owners manual. Does some one know of a inexpesive place to get these switches? How do you replace it? Any input is welcomed.
The switch could be bad again.
Also check the connectors on the switch. They burn up sometimes. Sometimes they unplug themselves too, especially if it has a tilt wheel.
These trucks don't use a normal type of signal flasher. They use a flasher relay. It's in a box with the heater motor relay, under the dash, toward the center of the truck from the gas pedal.
I would definately checked the connections on the back of the multi-function unit it is very possible the one or two of the wires may have come unplugged even though the unit is still plugged in. Check each wire individually.
Thanks for the input. I'll look at it more closely when my friend comes over this weekend. I didn't really realize that it was common for the connectors to come unplugged. I have seen several of them burn up though. I will definitely check them individually. Thanks Again!
