Hello - have a 2004 Explorer which was running fine yesterday and last night, no problems, not even a sputter. It has about 14K miles on it.
This morning, the beast would not start - acted like it was not getting fuel. Ended up calling Ford Road Assist to have it towed to the dealership.
Dealership just called back, said the thing was "flooded to death" and that the plugs were fouled, and they suspected bad fuel. So they wanted to do a complete tune-up and get it running so they can do their running tests.
Shouldn't I have experienced at least *something* before it wouldn't start if it were bad fuel? Anyone have any ideas? It all feels a bit sketchy to me...
Yes, I did look at the IAC article and it was what I first suspected, but there were no previous symptoms - no sputtering, no stalling, nothing like that. Just wouldn't start this morning.
Becareful of that dealer ,he's gonna rip you off in the future.
First off there are 2 ssm(special service messages ) msg's out there from ford about no start conditions on explorer/moutaineer.
1 is a connector in the driverside quarter panel comes loose causing a no fuel condition.
2 is the the iac/drive by wire intermittin failure
And yes the oil should be changed by the dealer.
