A Holley carb or any carb out of the box. Tigthen all screws look for anything
loose. gas/air Idle jet screws should be about 2 turns out, care in doing this
because you can damage the tips of jet screws. just lightly seated and back off 2 turns each side. Replace all carb base mounting plate gaskets pcv plate
should be cleaned. Dialing in a carb is many things form changing main jets to pump shooter nozzle size to pump cam on a Holley carb. Which would be way over your head. So just put it on and fire it up and see what it does. Watch
for any flooding.. my 2 cents

you may be able to stick it on jsut to start it, but I would not run it for long like that. You're gonna need to tune the thing once you get the motor started, whether or not you do what orich suggested.
An engine should be warmed up good when your making final carb gas/air idle jets adjustments, Made sure you have all vacuum line hooked too the right place.Back in the days of carbs the best way was to used a vacuum meter to
adjusted it right. But doing it by ear will get it close enough.Other tuning may
have to be done. Because carbs are set up for general use and many other engine. And may run on the rich ot lean side. This a good time to put in new spark plugs & air filter.. If all checks out good after test driving you can after about 300 miles pull the plugs and read them for correct coloring. Most motor manuals have a chart in them.. Holley carbs are not economy carbs like the AutoLite or Motorcraft
Happy motoring my 2cents
