I recently purchased a 1993 Ford Explorer. The radio is the stock radio that came with the vehicle and I want to install a cd player in it. After removing the radio and put in the cd player, it wont work. The fuses check out ok. The cd player has a blue wire for the amplifier, but no wire to connect to, unless someone can tell me where it is?
I use to have a 94 explorer but had the radio installed by a sound specilist and he had said if the amp was not connected, the radio wouldnt work. Where do I find the amplifier for a 1993?

I've heard different places that they're at so somebody correct me if I'm wrong. But I've heard that they can be in the drivers side panel behind the seat, there might be a little door type thing, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Did you have the premium sound before hand? If you didn't there won't be an amp.
Hey muffinman, is there a way to tell if you originally had premium sound system? Back 2 years ago when I pulled my old 5x7's out, they said premium sound or something like that on the back of them.. I'm wondering if I have an amp somewhere.. Something on my summer to-do list is rewiring the speakers.
Thank you all for the help. I found the amp under the kick panel on the passengers side. Now which wire do I use to hook up the blue wire off the radio to the amp?
