The perfect pickup
1. Take care of vibration issue
2. 5 speed auto transmission
3. Drop 500 lbs (to compete with Titan and Dodge)
4. Add 30 HP (to compete with Titan and Dodge)
5. Increase speed limiter to 120 mph
6. Make cloth seat fabric that is easier to clean
7. Add 2" to rear seat area and add a longer bed option to SCREW.
What do you think?
If I buy another F150 in a few more years, I would like Ford to take a very good product and make it even better. Did I miss something?
#1. FIX THE VIBRATION and take care of current owners that have the problem. I DON'T have it. But, with all the discussion about the vibration I am very worried about changing tires, rotating them ... anything that might bring it on. A truck should be something you beat the crap out of and don't think about these things.
#2. Not sure what a 5 speed would bring to the table.
#8. This might be fixed by 3 & 4 ... Increase the fun factor. This truck is so smooth, quiet and refined that it fails to get get the heart pumping. It is coming across as a knock and it is not intended. In a previous thread, someone wrote .. "if I can only find where Ford hid those 300 horses".
#9. It would be nice to have a few more cubby holes to stash things. I have no clue where they could put them, but it would be nice. Maybe do what Chevy did with the Avalanche and enclose the space in front and back of the wheel wells and make that storage.
#1. Everybody's right - fix the vibration issue. Don't have it, and don't want it.
#2. I saw automatic transmissions go from 2 gears to 6 gears. My humble opinion is that 4 gears is the sweet spot. After 4 speeds, complexity (repair bills) increases with very little actual gain. Some American drivers would want 40 speeds if given 37. I just don't think a 5 or 6 speed transmission would add very much to this truck.
#3. What do we remove for that 500 lbs??? Frame, engine, transmission, etc??? This truck is really built tough, that's why I didn't buy the competition.
#4. Somebody always wants more horsepower. I guess it's not a bad thing if you are willing to pay for it.
#5. I don't want to drive a truck this size at 120 mph. Ever!!!!!
#6. I wonder if Ford left the seat treatment off a lot of trucks. Some seats, mine included, seem to repel stains pretty well. Maybe my dealer treated them?
#7. The back seats in my SCAB are roomier than a lot of cars. I understand the SCREW is 6 inches bigger. Another 2 inches would make the back seats as roomy as a 1955 Buick. The SCREW should come with the option of a longer bed, maybe 6.5 ft. I can visualize parking one with an 8 ft bed.

I would also like a 6.5 bed, truthfully just for appearance. The 5.5 just looks stubby for lack of a better word.
All in all though, mine is solid. It performed above expectations during our heavy snows. We prefer to drive it over my wife's Taurus.
I give it a big ----->
Here is my wish list for future F-150's:
1) Fix the vibe issue. I am fortunate not to have it, but I really don't want it!
2) 5spd or 6spd tranny
3) 375 to 400 hp from the factory.
4) Lariat features available in the FX4 (like they used to be)
5) HID headlights
6) Wipers that actually clean the entire windshield
7) Slightly lower tailgate (Thank goodness for the reverse sensors)
8) Spray-in bedliner done at factory
9) AWD- like the system used in the Exploders
Then the F-150 will be the ultimate pickup. IMO
The way it is now, its best pickup in the world. Imagine what it could be
with all that.

That, and I'm going to disagree on the AWD. My wife's explorer has it, and it's a terrible pig on gas. I'd hate to see what AWD would do to the fuel economy on this truck.
Great truck!
Also,400 HP. and most of everything listed above.Great truck so far.

Well, and maybe Auto up and down buttons for both the drivers and passenger front windows.
And... maybe make the doors open further. I keep hitting the front door with my foot everytime I get out of the truck. Right where the little bottleholder bump out thing is.
Alternative would be a 5 speed automatic with 2 overdrive gears and factory 4:10 or 4:56 differential gears.
Never get rid of the 5.5ft bed with a SCAB option for future generations....
