I thought it was a pretty good race,,,and I thought K.Busch did quite well up there with all Chevys,,top 5 ,,1 Ford-4 Chevys, and he has matured alot in 2 years, and was in the top 10 almost all day.
I agree and was really pulling for Bush but Gordon is very good at making that 24 as wide as possible when it counts. Sure would like to see Bush snag the cup again this year.
It's not that I doubt your interest in the sport of racing, but to come up with a statement that he must of been cheating to have a run like that and that you hope the officials tear him down.....Kinda sounds like something a 10 yr old would say.
He made a push for the lead...took his laps, got his points...Since Nascar pulls all the top cars in for inspection....Don't ya think if he were cheating, he would of just won the race?? Either way he's getting tore down.....

Thanks for the definition. If I had the time, the money and the right connections I'd love to 'participate'. I used to build street rods and did my share of street racing, but never had the chance to be on a crew...most people don't. I know people that are involved and have been involved...for instance I'm currently doing some work for a crew member of the Rolex 24-winning Pontiac Riley, and have known circle track drivers, drag racers and tractor-pullers through the years, but I guess that's the closest I've gotten.
That aside, knowing that just about all the NASCAR builders try to push the limits of what they can get away with to gain more speed, I remember reading somewhere that the DEI cars have been found 'guilty' more than others when it comes to rules infractions. After seeing Jr. 'rocket' to the lead as he did, I just have to wonder where all that extra horsepower came from. Perhaps that was just a result of 'racing dynamics' that I don't understand.
mr old v8: i am very amazed that you would accuse dale jr. of cheating. he has to much to lose if caught cheating. also he has won many races so he has no need to cheat. he is a very good driver though.
It is a well known fact that Jr/DEI has always been issued a slightly larger restrictor plate than the other 42 teams at Daytona and Talladega
Well at least NASCAR didn't have throw their usual amount of suspect 'Jr' caution flags

I'm not accusing Jr. himself, but rather DEI's engine builders. Look...as I said, I read somewhere that they've been caught more often than others. If that is true, and I can't document it, then the #8 is suspect in my book. If it isn't true, then that car is just plain fast. Like Jeff Gordon or not, through the years he's proven that he can take a third or fourth place car and win with it. That's the mark of a good driver. I liked to root for Jeff when he was driving the Baby Ruth Thunderbird, but now that he drives a Chevy...I like seeing him race, but not win.

Well if it's a known fact lets see some documentation, Prove it!!!!
I`m with thewiz427 lets see some facts. If Jr. was cheating why dident he win the race.or atleast lead more then the 3 laps he did.

Lets see proff of these facts.Gordon won the race and were not all on her saying he cheated.so why do you think Jr. did? he dident so stop thinking it.
and who ever said about Gordon being a fruit cake, why do you thin him and his wife got a divorce???
The reason Jr shot out in front, was because of a bump draft, it put him in front, but he new that he couldn't hold the lead, I'm sure he was happy to lead a lap and collect any points he could.
I give him credit for not blocking to the point of wrecking the leaders, I know other drivers that would of tried.
I remember the days when they accused Gordon of having satellite assisted traction controll...that was funny too.
Like you say, they all push the limit, but now since nascar has become such a fan based driven spectacle, they keep a pretty good watch on things.
I can tell you plenty of stories about, a 200lb roll of "duct" tape that we accidentally left in the car when it went over the scales, and rulers that had a few inches missing....but that sort of stuff don't fly in the big time.....
I'm a firm believer that "it ain't cheating if you don't get caught"...but with cup racing it's policed better and they have seen just about all the old tricks...a simple restrictor plate isn't gonna do the trick anymore......
Unless you have been to "the big show" you can't understand how the deals are made and how it all works. If there is one thing NASCAR understands it is how to keep the fans wound up. They count on the weekly talk and even start some of the rumers just to keep it interesting. Granted the old days are gone, no more Bill Gazaway and Dick Beatty, but never NEVER think that races don't usually go pretty much the way that NASCAR wants them to. If you can't take direction and go by their "game plan" you AIN'T GOING TO BE THERE LONG. No matter who you are or how much talent (money) you have. It's all designed to do ONE thing, Put money in the FRANCE family pocket. It always has been and always will be! Doug.
