cam walking

Has anyone had problems with this, or heard anything about it? There's a post on fordsix about it but I've never heard of a 300 having a problem before, just curious. Matt.

I have not read the post at fordsix as I am not a member , so I am assuming "walking" means in and out or end play. If so, there are several reasons this can happen. If this is a new cam installation some one could have forgotten to put the spacer between the cam and the thrust plate or the cam gear was not pushed on all the way. If using the bolt and washer method to install the cam gear , the gear will stop when it hits the washer. The cam nose will be flush with the gear hub. This is not far enough, the cam gear needs to be pushed farther until it stops , about 1/16 more. If this was not a new install, the thrust plate could be worn or broken, allowing the cam to walk back and forth.
