05 engine block heater

i just got my 05 250 a few weeks ago. do all thge 6.0l have engine block heaters? i searched through some old posts it appears the heater is right above the starter? i looked and i have a gold/brass fitting in the block with two prongs, is this the heater? if it is do i need to purchase my own cord? finally this heater should be basically all i need to start my truck up in the cold -15 degrees right in the morning? im going to the dealer tomorrow for something and if i need to buy something for the heater ill kill two birds with one stone. its been cold out in the moronings and truck wont start with the remote start, im hoping this block heater will help. ill say thank you guys in advance cause you guys on here are great with the replies.

Go to your Ford dealer and buy the cord kit, the heater is there but in Fords wisdom only trucks destined for COLD states get the cord as standard.

Yes, all you need is the cord and to either install it yourself or have the dealer do it. I had my dealer do it and he charged me 45.00 The cord cost me 44.00 from the dealer.

There is a ton of threads in this forum on this.

I too am looking for a cord. Anyone know where a guy can get a screaming deal. I think my dealer said they wanted almost 60 bucks.

Try "telling" your dealer to include the cord even after the deal. I doubt that you or your dealer was told that it was a dealer "add on" If mother Ford and the dealer cant communicate it should not be your fault..My dealer in Ohio was not informed by Ford when my 05 arrived and was glad to install it at no charge.Between the junk 18 inch Contis, and no underhood insulation and stripng several of the guages out of the Lariat package and upcharging in the "enhanced" package Ford seems to be more concerned more about nickel and diming you to death on the 05's than building customer loyalty. My 2 cents

Talking Block Heater

I have read on several ford related sites that Ford only installs the heater cord in their list of cold states. You can order 41H engine block heater $35 MRSP when you order your new truck.I told the dealer, he said not to worry it would have a cord installed.I guess they will have to eat the cost.

Ok, I got the cord but no clue where it connects. Looked around a bit but man-o-man, that is one crowed engin compartment, and that is one small connector I am looking for.

look throught your passenger side of the front wheel well twords the back look for the starter, if you strain just enough you can see were it needs to plug into the heater.

OR, just make one with a trouble light, cut the light off of the end and install a plug and bolt it onto your truck, voila, retractable cord for your block heater- much cheaper. Just make sure to get the style of light with the plugs on it so that you get a heavy cord that will handle the 1100 watts or about 12 amps you need to get good heat from the heater.

An International truck dealer. There should be a local one or at least in the closest major city near you. That is where I got mine and cost was only about $13.00. I have an account with them as I have alot of thier trucks in my fleet.

I see it in my business also, they are cutting things down on the extras mainly due to the cost of raw materials, & constant pricing pressure. I would imagine it is going on with almost everything these days. I think there has been a 3-400% increase in raw steel prices in the past couple of years & it would be hard to increase the price of vehicles as quickly as the raw materials go up. IMHO

I'm very suprised to hear all the trucks out there without block heater cords installed from F.M.C. I have owned 4 p.s.d's in south Fla. and all have had cords attached. I think every truck with the diesel engine I've looked at had a cord what gives? I have only used mine a few times (thirties are rare in south fla), but it sure made it nice for the engine starting up. I would tell your dealer every truck in fla has the cord, give it up!
