Exclamation 1994 f150 problems Help Anyone!

Hi does anyone know why the slave cylinder in the 94 trucks 5 speed manuals always fails. Ive gone through 5 of them and it seems seals are going. Was there any different fluids used instead of dot 3? This is getting reall frustrationg. Bad design because everytime you have to change the slave you have to pull the tranny. Any info would be really helpfull!!

Possibly ATF, Ford used it in their power steering pump, so maybe?!?

You don't put ATF in the hydraulic clutch system. DOT 3 brake fluid is what I've always seen recommended. Are you buying the slave cylinder from Ford, or are you buying aftermarket parts?

Hi getting the slaves right from ford. Ford replaced 3 of them for me. Is this a common problem?

I have gone thru 2 slave cylinders and 1 master cylinder in my truck but hopefully the problem is corrected now. It is a pain in the behind but stick with it.

I've replaced my slave cylinder too. Ford should be ashamed to put something like that on a truck! The slave cylinder probabably can't handle the pressure necessary to disengage a high torque V8 clutch. It's sad how that makes an otherwise robust drive train unreliable.
