I believe that would be a '99.5 - as far as the differences.... I think they changed something with the turbo and intake design, that's the big thing - other than that - I can't say I know... O they moved the PSD badge from the front fender to the door I think... Kinda sticks in my head the HP and torque ratings went up a 'tich for the '99.5...

I have a f-250 made in February 1999. The powerstroke diesel badge on it is on the doors so i have always assumed it to be a 99.5. Just what i have always figured, but i could be wrong.
I'd like to find an exact build date or find out what that date is that determines a 99 from a 99.5, because lots of aftermarket and performance items differ between 99 and 99.5-2003. I've heard 99.5's are real close to the same as 2000 trucks.
This site has some performance specs for the 7.3 psd through the years, hp and torque curves, and lots of good info http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/home.html
Another Ford diesel pickup web site has an extensive writeup on the differences between the early and late 99s, (99 vs 99.5). The change over point in manufacturing was early to mid Dec, 98. The administrators of this board blocked my post which identified it.
For Ed Willmott,
I'm too new a member of this forum to either post the URL of other web sites or respond to you via the web site email so I'll try a work around. Look up ford-trucks and check in their FAQs or articles. There is an extensive explanation of thew differences between the early 99s and the 99.5 models. Either 8 Dec 98 or 18 Dec 98 was the changeover date. The article will tell you.
i think their was a kind of quiet recall on the airbox. If you complained enough, they would replace/upgrade it. I tried but never got anywhere. I later upgraded to a Ford AIS airbox, cure for all my air filtering problems.
