I've got a 2004 F350 V10 and I've noticed that there is often a puddle under the truck after it has sat a while. It's slightly off center to the passenger side under the front axle. The only thing that appears wet is the steering stabilizer. could that be leaking on a truck with 7,500 miles or is it likely that something else is dripping on to it?
Thanks for your help.
4wd? or 2WD? Does the fluid have a specific color? Fluid? Condensation? or ??? Don't move the truck the next time you notice the fluid on the ground underneath it. Use that to trace up into the engine and suspension area best you can. Check existing fluid reservoir levels; see if they're down any.
Hard to say, so best bet is to just get up under there with a flashlight and have a look.
Are you sure its not condensation from the AC system? My truck always drips alot of water after I shut it down with the AC on. It used to freak me out too. hope this helps and I hope its not a leak of some sort..
It's a 4x4. The fluid seems clear with a slight yellow tinge. The only place it appears other than the driveway is in drips off of the steering stabilizer. I tried to lay under the truck and look up and looked down from above. I think it's the steering stabilizer itself but wanted to see if there is a way to confirm that. FWIW, I moved the truck and wiped down the s.s. It is no longer dripping onto the driveway but, drops are hanging from the s.s. again.
hc130flyboy, I wish I could believe that it was condensation but, I noticed it after the truck had been sitting for several days and I haven't used the a/c since winter set in.
Hmm, wonder if it's not coolant? They have different color coolants nowadays for different duty ratings. Did you by chance check the radiator? and overflow reservoir? Maybe there's a pinhole leak in the radiator. If that's the case, some of that Prestone radiator sealant should do the trick.
I took the truck into the dealer and they replaced the steering damper. The service manager told me that it happens all the time when it gets cold and you hit a bump. I thought that maybe I should get an off road one or at least some type of higher performance unit but, it's under warrantee so, I guess I'll wait and see what happens.
I'm looking at an '06 F350 King Ranch DRW 4x4 Diesel. Test drove it yesterday afternoon just before the dealer closed, so I'm pretty sure it hasn't been moved or even started since we walked away yesterday. This morning, I went back to look it over without benefit of the salesman and it was still dripping from the passenger side just forward of the cab where I typically see A/C condensation from on most other vehicles.
Is this really condensation still dripping 15 hours later or is there a problem with this new truck? It looked like condensate, but had a slightly oily feel to the clear liquid on the ground that I could attribute to oil dripping on the lot.
