'75 wiring questions

I bought a 75 F-150 explorer a little while ago that I am in the process of fixing up. The vin shows that it came with the 300-6cyl. but it now has a V8. It also has a butchered mess where the wiring should be. Right now everything runs and most of the interior amenities work, but there are a lot of extra wires and a lot of bare wires hanging out everywhere. Almost every wire is spliced. I've taped over the bare wires, several of which are hot. And fixed a couple of loose connections so that everything stays running while I work on the mechanical aspects. The whole thing will need replaced pretty soon though. I wan't to rewire it myself but I can't find a wiring diagram for a 75. Anyone know of a good place to shop for Ford colored wire and connectors?

You would probably be better off getting all the wiring you need from a junk yard. In '78 they changed the harness.

I've tried the locals but nobody has anything that old. I'll have to widen my search I guess. Does the harness for the engine need to come from a V8 or will one from a 6cyl. work as well? Are the 76 wiring diagrams the same as for the 75?

Yes, the 6 harness is different. You could make it work though. The wiring in '75 & '76 is the same.

Cool. I talked to the guy I bought the truck from and he thinks he has a 76 I could pull the harness from. Thanks for the help!
