I want to change the trans and rear end fluids, but not sure what to use. Im thinking i'll go with Red Line. My question is which one to use in the trans, and which in the rear end?
My guess is 75W90NS in the trans, and 75W140NS or 80W140NS in the rear, but want to hear some opinions. What about Shockproff RL Gear Oil?
I'd be interested in what the 'experts' think about this one as well . . . . if anyone posts
Knowing the history of Ford ZF 5 speeds self destructing over time and the factory recommendation for putting Mercon ATF in them I'm wondering if there's not a better lubricant to use in mine . . . . and Redline was what I was thinking
Anyone got any opinions on whether this is a good idea or not??
I filled out Red Lines Application Requests @ their web site, but got no response. The haynes manual just recommended 80w gear lube, it dosen't say anything about friction modifiers. Most off the shelf fuild that i've seen contain friction modifiers, but i dont think i want this in my trans. I ordered 8 Quarts of RL 75W140NS from summit. I still dont know what I want to put in the differential. The haynes manual just recommends hypoid gear lube for Conventional and LS differentials, but unsure if I need the friction modifiers for a conventional differential. I could just go with 80W140, or 75W140NS and just add the friction modifiers if needed, or maybe try one of RL ShockProof.. who knows.
