repairing a headliner

Ok, i have a 94 ford ranger, I have started noticing that the headliner is starting to develop tears. They seem to be getting larger and larger, and more and more of them. I am not a smoker, there aren't any smokers that come in my truck, and as far as i know. Is there any way to repair this without pulling down the whole thing? I have seen this stuff, the upholstrey repair stuff, where you mix your color, apply it, and it looks like nothing happened. Does anyone know how well this stuff works? Thanks for ya'lls help.

Works ok on vinyl, not so good on fabric. Either way, you CAN still see it, but I guess that is better then a big tear. I have had ok luck with super glue.

A repair kit is about $20 and it takes an afternoon to fix... I'd just do it right the first time, and then let the next guy worry about doing it again in 5 or so years.
