I have been checking out many bronco for sale and find that many of them have problem with the driver's door not being straight. Since my 68 does that as well, the question is: is this usual? How do you correct it? What causes it ?
Does anyone out there has a under dash wiring harness for sale?
It depends on where it is out of alignment at. The first thing that needs to be checked is the door hinge condition and the condition of the latch and striker. If they are worn out, you will be fighting a losing battle. There is some adjustment built in to where the hinges bolt onto the body. They will allow the front of the door to be moved in/ out, and tilted at the top or bottom slightly. The door striker pin can also be adjusted so that the door closes easier and doesn't lift or lower the door to mate with the hinge. Another problem that can happen is the door not being straight with the body. The top of the door will stick out when the bottom is flush with the body. Some gentle tweaking can be done with a 2x4 in the right spot between the door and the body.
I was going to get you a price on a harness, but I'm not sure how much you want/ need. Do you want to repair the section, or replace the entire under dash wiring?
Also, If the hinges and such are ok, you must make sure the body mounts are tight. If a body lift is done with taller mounts the mounts (pucks) can be adjusted (shimmed or trimmed) to make door aft gap straight. Ususlly the aft body mounts will do this.....
