Opinion - Rubber or Urethane

Guys, I need some input. I've just started stripping out my Bronco. The frame is in the media blaster and the axles are in the shop for a complete rebuild. The chassis has a 3-1/2" James Duff lift. The bushings are warn and are in need of replacement.

My question is rubber or urethane? I've read the same benefits from a few manufactures for both materials...does it matter? Are there benefits of using rubber in some locations and urethane in others?

Input would be greatly appreciated.

The rubber are better for axle articulation if you like to rock crawl and also ride softer. The urethane lasts longer. I would put urethane bushings on the trac bar. On the C-bushings and radius arm ends, I guess it depends on what you're doing with the Bronco. If it's primarily street driven, I would go with the urethane. My Bronco is all rubber and they are worn, but it doesn't drive on the highway anymore. I have started converting the rubber bushings on my F350 to urethane and handling on the road with the camper loaded has improved.

Thanks, SoCal

I've just stripped my '76 Bronco, so I'll be looking for a totaly new suspension system...system being the key word.

I thought I had a 3-1/2" kit, but it ended up being a 2" so it needs to be replaced..

Who's got the best kit for the money?

I'm talking about a true complete kit, bushings, front and rear springs, extended lines, the works.

i run a 5 1/2 " suspension lift & no body lift(wild horses extreme). i have all poly bushings & body mounts except for rubber radius arm bushings(for extra flex). i love the setup.

poly bushings everywhere especially the radius arm caps, you need the degree built in for your lift anyhow, and the track bar is a must, a sloppy bushing on either end of it makes the truck handle like crap. go with rubber on the radius arms ends at the frame mounts if our want to get max articulation.
