Anyone that has installed aftermarket fogs/driving lights that require you to connect to highbeams/parking lights, is there anyway to bypass hooking up to highbeams. I know what I have to do its just another 2hrs (under the dash) to get to it or I can get new wire and run it all the to the lights. If I do run it to the highbeams/parking lights, which one is the easier to get to, which wire do I use.
Are you talking about using the high beam wire to trigger a set of relays that inturn run the Hella lights?
You could do like I did with my F-150 and the driving lights on the on my push bar, with a slight modification..
My setup uses a simple 30A relay that senses when the Highs are on then it switches the driving lights off and on. I do not have a switch setup, they are either on or off depending on if the Highs are on or off. All of my supplied power comes from the battery, and if I remember correctly, it is running off a 15 A fuse.
You can use a test light to figure out which wire is getting voltage at the nearest parking light lamp, hook a wire to the appropriate wire, run that wire to the dash with a switch then connect to the relay. This is the easiest, and best way to keep your truck from burning up as you are running a small amperage through the switch rather than a large amperage. This allows the relay to hande all the light amps, but you still have the ability to turn the aux lights on and off.
If you are using them as driving lights or fogs, most states only allow for four lights on at a time, so if you have your headlights, factory fogs, and a pair of aftermarkets, you could get pulled over.

Wow, I've lost all hope. Everything hooked up, triple checked and nothing works. I have a rocker switch and it is suppose to be illuminated, but no illumination. I checked everything, nothing works. Theres just so much stuff that could be wrong. I know its a broad problem but any body got any tips? The lights I am hooking up are Hella 500 series driving lights. You can go to Hella's site and check out the installation instructions because it gives you a diagram of the entire setup, if it helps at all. I'm desperate guys....
