wider plug gap?

wider plug gap?

i recently installed a accel super stock coil because my stock coil went bad.would it be smart idea to increase the plug gap to get as much juice as i can out of the coil ? the gap right now is .044 on an 86 f150 351w .

If you increase the plug gap it will take more voltage to jump the gap. This increased voltage will place a greater strain on all of your other system components. There will be a greater tendency to crossfire and to break down the insulation on your plugs, rotor, cap, wires, and coil.

so is this super stock coil going to make any diff. over a plain stock coil?

Not really unless you upgrade and replace all the other components in the system. If you install it in an old "leaky" system and increase the gap the system will "spring a leak" somewhere and be worse than what you have now. For an everyday driver replace all of the parts with high quality OEM components.

If you have a high compression race engine or are running NOS etc then the super coil along with many other modifications and upgrades can provide adequate ignition.
