hello, i am getting an 1986 5.0 from an automatic, i have a manual, can i use my 1979 flywheel on this engine?

In 1982 302's were changed balance wise.I can't tell for positive,but I think I'd use the Harmonic balancer also from 1979.

NO- you can't use the 79 flywheel on the 86. Will give a vibration. Find a later flywheel with the same tooth count.

*FLYWHEELS* are used for Standard Transmissions and *FLEXPLATES* are used on automatics.
Plus it HAS to be the CORRECT application or you will have balance problems causing Vibration, etc.

You will end up spinning a rod or main bearing if you use the wrong flywheel/flexplate/dampner for the engine
