Just installed my new Retrax tonneau cover. Very nice. But a couple of questions for other Retrax owners on screw installations - - -
I made sure all the clearances were exactly as specified in the installation guide, but it seems like the cover binds up a little when it reaches the halfway point. It slides fairly easily when it is near fully open and also when it's closing. Only resistance is in the middle. Even so, you still have to push or pull to get it to move. It's NOTHING like the video on the website, where it slides effortlessly.
Also, when it's in the fully retracted position against the stop, if I let go, it will unroll about 4-6" out of the canister.
Anyone else have these issues? Seems to me it should be easier to slide and it shouldn't unroll itself at all. (Just like the video).
My Retrax rolls pretty smooth throughout the length of the bed. You might check the installation of the canister. That did give me a little trouble when I was installing as the directions were pretty vague about the end caps. If they aren't installed properly that may cause the top to roll out from the canister. The only other thing I can think of is the clamps holding the side rails may not be tightened the same and are causing the side rails to pull one way or the other.
